PARISH OF DRUMCREE

Mission Statement: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are
challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ’s invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

Reflection

Jesus’ place at a banquet

When Jesus goes to a banquet -
a wedding reception,
a celebration in the club,
a parish celebration,
he doesn’t seem to look for the top table.

He seems to look more in the ordinary places,
to find congenial company
with the person who goes for the lowest place,
with the person who hides behind the pillar,
with the person hanging back to be invited
somewhere.

And at the banquet of life
he seems to sit
with those who get the leftovers
and enjoy their company.

And he is teaching about heaven
as he invites all to the banquet;
we are welcomed by God
for who we are,
for what we have given,
for what love we have created in live,
and tried to give, even with mistakes.

What God praises in us may surprise us:
the simple moments where we have made a difference in the lives of others,
and big moments where we have made our effort
to help create a world according to the mind of God.

And he embarrassed people
in his own day
by bring all sorts of people
to the top table.
Maybe he will praise in us
what we least expect.

Sort of turns things
upside down,
doesn’t it?

The JOY rule
Think of Jesus
Think of Others
Think of You
