PARISH OF DRUMCREE
Mission Statement
: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ’s invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

Consecration of Ireland to the Immaculate Heart of Mary - Ireland will be consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on August 15, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The consecration will take place at Knock Shrine, during the annual Novena to Our Lady of Knock. Cardinal Seán Brady will lead the Act of  Consecration. Archbishop Eamon Martin will be the  principal celebrant and preacher at the Mass on that day. All are welcome.
The Prayer of Consecration will entrust families, homes and the dioceses of Ireland to Jesus through the   Immaculate Heart of Mary and call on her to watch over the young people of Ireland. As the universal Church is  currently celebrating a Year of Faith, it is fitting that the Act of Consecration calls to mind the woman of faith par   excellence and asks for her prayers for the people of this country.
The prayer of Consecration will be said at Masses in this Parish on the feast of the Assumption.

Reflection

To have or to be

The shop window is like a mirror;
we look into it and see something
which we want to possess or buy.
Different things attract different people.
We can almost see ourselves in some of the showpieces -
buy something and we’ll appear successful,
buy something else and we may be popular,
something else and we’ll look stunning,
something else and we’ll be one of the in-group.

Mirrors of possessiveness,
being caught by the attraction of what we might own
and of being looked up to for what we have.

Jesus’story today is about a man who stored it all up,
and then found he had too much to bring with him,
wherever the future might call him.
He was rich in the sight of the world,
and impoverished in the sight of God.

There’s a transparency about us all
when we are with God.
All are equally loved in the eyes of God,
just for who each person is,
not for where we live,
or for who our friends are,
or for a youthful body or expert mind.

Loved and valued for who we are,
and how we want to love and care for others
and how we want to contribute to the world.

All are loved,
and all can make some contribution
to the betterment of the world,
by how we love and give to others.

When we give in love
we lose nothing.
We gain and so
we are richer
in the sight of God.

Think of Jesus
Think of Others
