PARISH OF DRUMCREE Mission Statement: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. What is a Eucharistic Congress? It is an international gathering of people which aims to promote awareness of the central place of the Eucharist in the life and mission of the Catholic Church; improve our understanding and celebration of the liturgy; draw attention to the social dimension of the Eucharist (i.e. the responsibility which we have to live in the spirit of communion and self-gift that we celebrate). The first Congress was held in Lille, France in 1881. The theme this year is `The Eucharist: Communion with Christ and one another.' The 1932 Congress was the 31st and this year marks the 50th. Reflection That my own joy may be in you We search for joy and love in life: in our emptiness and our yearnings, our hurts and our griefs, our loneliness and our boredom, we want joy, and we want to be loved. And in friendships and loves, in the moments of peace and harmony among family and with friends, there are glimpses of joy and of love, and we know that the human heart is made for joy and love that is everlasting. Let's be thankful: for the joy and love of life, for the joy and love of children, of husbands, wives and family; for the joy and love of friends, of neighbours and colleagues, and for the joy and love we shared with those who have gone before us. And let's be hopeful in times where all this is missing, that it is not missing forever. When love is hurt or joy is muddied, let's be hopeful that we will find such joy again; and let even the ache for joy and love remind us of love and joy that lasts forever: the love and joy of God.
