PARISH OF DRUMCREE
Mission Statement: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and
Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ's invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

Introducing the New Missal that will come into effect on the First Sunday of Advent:  To assist our preparation for changes in some of the words that we pray at Mass please see the question and answer below.  In addition you may wish to view the brief video and further explanations which are now available on www.catholicbishops.ie.  Related topics on the new edition of the Roman Missal are also on www.liturgy-ireland.ie.

Is the Catholic Church in Ireland alone in introducing this new Missal?  The Catholic Church in Ireland, along with Churches
throughout the English-speaking world, is working towards introducing the new edition of the Roman Missal at this time.  This new edition is the English translation of the Latin Missal that was issued by Pope John Paul II in 2002.  Since 2002 the Church in its many languages has engaged in the work of translating this Latin text through study, reflection and consultation.  This work in English-speaking countries is now complete.  In Ireland, as in other English-speaking countries, the new Missal will come into use during autumn 2011.

Reflection

In the ordinary

Come to a quiet place,
a place so quiet
that you can hear
the grass grow.
Run your fingers
through the softness
of its petals,
and listen;
listen to the earth,
the warm earth,
the life pulse
of us all.
Rest your body
against its warmth;
feel its greatness,
the pulse and throb,
the foundation
of the world.

Look up into the sky,
the all-embracing sky,
the canopy of heaven.
How small we really are:
specks in the greatness
but still a part of it all.
We grow from the earth
and find
our own place.
