PARISH OF DRUMCREE
Mission Statement: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and
Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ's invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL NOTES

Pastoral Council meeting - Thursday 18th March after evening Mass.

Parish Weekly  Envelopes April 2010 - March 2011 are available for collection.

DEVELOPING WORLD PROJECT
Last week in our parish we officially launched our outreach project to help those less well off in the developing world.

For the first three years we are focusing on Romania – to take the children out of the orphanages where the standard of living is ridiculously bad and put them into live in new smaller homes where they will be cared for well and given an education – where they have a chance to get their lives back.

At the Masses last week we received over £900 in donations. We thank all who contributed and the March brown envelopes that were handed out can be left back at any time in the Church or the collection plate. These envelopes will be given out each month if people want to take them and even 50p a month would make a difference to helping us build this home. Last week the car-wash also raised a further £1052 and we thank Tommy very much for giving up his yard and time for the day and all the helpers who worked so hard.

So far the primary schools have collected over £1500 between them in brown money that the students will be bringing in each week. That is a tremendous effort to see the young people taking this project to their heart to help other young people less well off. One class alone raised over £700 and we congratulate that class, and all the classes and their teachers in the three primary schools.

Everyone, young and old, can add to the brown money collection as at all the Sunday Masses the Romania collection bin will be in place for people to put their ‘shrapnel’.

Finally, we will be recruiting volunteers for the first stage of work in the next month or so. If you are interested keep an eye on the bulleting for more details in the coming weeks.

Once again ThankYou so much for this brilliant start towards helping the children of Romania

Reflection

He welcomes sinners and eats with them

Two types of people welcomed by Jesus:
one, the younger son
who had gone away,
squandered his life
and returned empty.

Those times of life
we know were wasted and were wrong,
use of people or wealth or life just for
ourselves,
failure to look after those in our care,
or neglect of God and the things of God.

Jesus offers always
the bread of acceptance and forgiveness,
the invitation to make always a new start,
the insight that the future can always be more whole.
A welcome to the wasted and battered sides
of life,
in his mercy and forgiveness.

And a welcome for the elder son:
the one who had done everything right,
but could not say `I have sinned',
who had always tried to be faithful,
who had practised his religion,
but seemed to do so in isolation,
for he could not welcome with
compassion
the brother who returned home.

A welcome, too, for the sin of
uninvolvement,
of caring first for self and not for
others,
and an invitation to join all at the
celebration
of reconciliation and forgiveness.

For God is the one who can give all,
to the one who returns his embrace
and to the one who was always in his
embrace,
for he welcomes sinners and eats with them.
