PARISH OF DRUMCREE Mission Statement: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ's invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world. www.drumcreeparish.com St. John the Baptist Church, Garvaghy Road, (1777) - 1977 St. Patrick's Church, William Street - 1835 28th February 2010 Second Sunday of Lent Mass Times: St. John the Baptist Saturday 7 p.m. Sunday 8.30 & 11.30 a.m. St. Patrick's Sunday 10 a.m. Weekday Masses: St. John the Baptist Tuesday - Friday 7p.m. St. Patrick's Monday - Saturday 10 a.m. Monday 7p.m. (Novena - Miraculous Medal) Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Thursdays in St. John the Baptist Church beginning at 6 p.m. Devotions 1st and 2nd Sunday Confessions: St. Patrick's Saturday - 12.30 - 1.15 p.m. St. John the Baptist Saturday - 6.15 - 6.45 p.m. Baptisms: Every Saturday, 5 p.m. Registration for Baptism must be made in St. John the Baptist Church, after Friday evening Mass, two weeks prior to date. They had climbed the mountain with Jesus, as they had been through rough times with him - mocked his sermons in the synagogue, condemned his compassion for people, and now they had seen his glory - they had seen him at the best humanity could offer and they had seen what divinity looked like, the glory of God on the face of Jesus. We journey like that - mountain steepness and boulders tire us, the summit seems far off, like trying to understand those we love, or trying to create some sort of a better world, or trying to live up to the call of God. And we glimpse glory, like when the mists lifts on a mountain, the glory of love and reconciliation, or the glory of God's nearness in prayer. If we're lost in a mountain mist we get afraid - and we get afraid in the mists of life - of losing our way, our health, our securities. There are times when we glimpse in the lifting of the mist that God is with us on all the journey. caring for us in all troubles, offering us the word of life, naming each of us his beloved child. May we listen to his word, the word of comfort in trouble, of challenge in our ease, of faithfulness always. ****** This Lent, I will fast my ears from talk that harms: I will fast my voice from words that hurt. This Lent, I will fast my eyes from things that I don't need; I will fast my mind from jealousy and hate. This Lent, I will fast my hands from pushing and shoving: I will fast my feet from stamping and kicking. May I praise God and Love others. Amen. A MINUTE IN EVERY HOUR! AN HOUR IN EVERY DAY!
