Come back to Mass |
This Sunday the Church in her liturgy celebrates the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. In our parish it has been designated ‘Come Back to Mass’ weekend. The feast draws the Christmas season to a close and over that period the churches have been well attended by worshippers. The Baptism of the Lord reminds each baptised person of his unique dignity as a child of God. It recalls the baptismal promises we made and challenges us to examine if we have been faithful to them. The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord is therefore an appropriate occasion for the baptised to renew their commitment to the practice of the faith and in particular their assistance at Holy Mass. This weekend parishioners are especially invited to encourage friends and family who may not attend church regularly or at all to come to Mass and experience the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
