PARISH OF DRUMCREE
Mission Statement: Our Parish is a Christ-centred community. In Baptism we are challenged by the Spirit to live and share the Gospel message. Through proclaiming the Gospel message to all, Growth in Faith, Liturgy, Justice Issues and
Ecumenism we extend our love and care to all people providing support in renewing and deepening our faith. We value the gifts and talents of each of our Parishioners and invite them to use these in responding to Christ’s invitation to all of us to follow Him and spread the Good News to the whole world.

Legion of Mary - our Parish Praesidium, Our Lady Queen of Ireland, will hold its three thousandth (3000) meeting on Monday 15th December. The first meeting took place on 15th October 1934.  Eighteen ladies were present and the priests of the Parish.  There were also visitors from Belfast.  The Praesidium took the name Our Lady of Lourdes. The first work was to distribute leaflets concerning enthronement of the Sacred Heart - 195 homes were visited.  Over the years men joined the Legion and name was changed to Our Lady Queen of Ireland.  Work nowadays includes visitation of homes and also nursing homes. To mark this special event the present members have arranged a Mass of Thanksgiving and Blessing on that date (7 p.m. St. Patrick’s Church).  All past and auxiliary members are welcome to attend.  “My soul glorifies the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God, my Saviour.”

Is there someone missing from your Christmas Table this year?  Is there someone missing from Christ’s Altar today?  To include those missing from the Altar/table paper figures are available in the Churches - take one and write the Christian name only on it of whoever is missing and return to the Church.  During the Christmas Season the figures will be placed around the Church.

The Bibles have arrived.  If you ordered one please collect in the Sacristy.

Next Sundays bulletin (21st December) will be the last until 4th January - notices for Christmas season and anniversaries should be left in either Parochial House (Moy Rd.) before Wednesday 17th December.

Reflection

Witness for the light

May my life speak as a witness for the light;

where there is darkness may I bring
light,
where there is loneliness, may I bring companionship,
where there is pain, may I bring
healing.

May my words bring comfort to others,
as the morning dawn lightens the
darkness,
and may my prayers bring hope to
others,
as the moon gives its light to the sky

May my touch lighten
the loneliness and fears of young and old,
and may my sufferings and
struggles,
as these were part of the life of
Jesus,
and part of the life of Mary and Joseph,
bring hope and depth to others.

And when like the Baptist, I cry,
in the wilderness of anxiety , fear and hopelessness,
may I be heard by God
and may the light of Jesus
lit in the love of Mary and Joseph,
shine through the ways I deal with pain,
and comfort the pain of another.

May I believe
that each person,
like John the Baptist,
is a voice speaking the word of God.

May the way of Jesus Christ,
Prince of Peace, Son of God,
be bright in my soul and the souls of others.
