What God Joins - Toward a meaningful understanding of Sacramental Marriage |
The Order of the Knights of Saint Columbanus selected sacramental marriage as the theme for its national project in 2007-2008. The publication ‘What God Joins – Toward a meaningful understanding of Sacramental Marriage’ is the fruit of much prayerful reflection and work. The booklet was launched in Maynooth on 13th March 2008 by the Most Reverend Éamonn Walsh, Auxiliary Bishop of Dublin. It aims to offer some realistic and reassuring advice about this most beautiful of sacraments. The publication should be of interest to those who care about and support the promotion of marriage in society. Importantly the booklet features the results of research into young people’s understanding of the language and concepts associated with marriage. It also refers to documents providing authoritative Church teaching on the sacrament. Contributors of articles include clerics, those in consecrated life and lay commentators. The booklet has been compiled by the Order’s Supreme Executive with the support of staff members of the Irish Episcopal Conference. You can download the publication and read it online. Copies will be distributed to priests, pastoral leaders and agencies involved in marriage preparation. |
