Lough Derg 2007 |
Renowned as one of the foremost Christian pilgrimage sites in Europe, the island of Lough Derg offers a haven of peace and tranquillity in which one can reflect upon life and grow closer to God in prayer. The pilgrimage season is well underway and in addition to the traditional three day pilgrimage, Lough Derg provides other means of benefiting from its unique serenity. 2007 Three Day Pilgrimage • Pilgrims can commence their pilgrimage on any day to Monday 13th August inclusive. • Pilgrims must be at least 15 years of age, in normal good health and able to walk and kneel unaided. • Pilgrims must fast from midnight prior to arrival. • Pilgrims should bring warm and waterproof clothing. • Boats depart daily between 11am and 3pm. The cost is £32 and includes boat fare and accommodation. No reservation is required. 2007 One Day Retreats August: 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27. 28, 29 September: 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 22, 23 • Retreats are open to adults. They are NOT suited to children. • Particularly appropriate for those unable to make the Three Day Pilgrimage. • Retreats do not require fasting or walking bare-footed. • Each retreat begins at 10am and ends at approximately 5pm. (Boats run continuously between 9.15am and 10.15am) The cost is £18.50 and includes boat fare and lunch. Numbers are limited so advance booking is essential. 2007 Quiet Days This is one day that is set aside for personal reflection and rest. The remaining date in 2007 is 5th September. • Arrival is at 10am with departure at 4pm. • Numbers are limited to 50 people. The cost is £15 and includes boat fare and lunch.
