Red Wednesday 2024
The Catholic Review notes that persecution and discrimination against Christians around the world is getting worse — that’s the stark warning from the pontifical charity that works with thousands of vulnerable Christian communities in 140 countries.

This Wednesday, 20th November, will mark "Red Wednesday", a commemoration held annually by Aid to the Church in Need to highlight the fact that today one in seven Christians face extreme hostility, violence and repression because of their faith in Christ.

On Wednesday evening, the Church of St John the Baptist will be bathed in red light as a symbolic remembrance of our persecuted sisters and brothers. During the evening Mass on Wednesday, we will also remember all those persecuted for their faith and we extend a warm welcome to everyone to come along on Wednesday to join our prayer together at Mass.
