The Diocesan Personnel Committee have been discussing a range of options to help raise the recognition and awareness of the valuable contribution of the many women and men, young and old, who volunteer to assist in the life of our parishes.

As a Church, we would find it very difficult to continue functioning without their faithful commitment and constant generosity. In an effort to heighten this awareness, and to offer others the opportunity to volunteer, we are launching ‘Volunteer Sunday’ on Sunday 27th November which is the First Sunday of Advent. It is hoped that this will be a recurring theme on the First Sunday of the Church year in the Archdiocese of Armagh. 

By putting a focus and emphasis on volunteering in the local parish on that Sunday, and on the days around it, we might encourage others to consider contributing their talents and skills for the good of the entire parish community.
